Omega oils – what’s all the fuss?

As children, your parents may have insisted you take cod liver oil, or even flax seed oil. They may also have given you some Omega oils. Apparently it was good for you? As an adult you get to make your own choices about what you put in your mouth. Turns out your parents had the right ideas! Here is why Omega oils are really good for you:

  • Omega-3’s are VERY important for brain health and for brain cells – making sure that the connections between brain cells are maintained. Omega-3 also ensures that our cells are able to make the energy they need to function. Omega-3’s are also important in the body’s inflammatory response, reducing the chances of having problems with circulation, joints, and other organs.
  • Omega-6 fatty acids are important for all organ functioning, but the amount of Omega-6 in a diet must be balance by Omega-3 and Omega-9.
  • Omega-9 is the one Omega that can be produced by the body and found easily in plant oils, such as olive oil, nuts and seeds. Omega-9’s are important in helping our cells function.

Make sure you look for a vitamin with the right concentration of Omega’s to suit your needs.
